Emerging Leaders Student Collective Banner: Learn How to Make Positive Change in Your Community

SLCE's Emerging Leaders Student Collective is a six-week program that supports UIC undergraduate students as they begin to navigate and explore the concepts of leadership and self-reflection. Meeting once a week with peer facilitators and mentors. Ignite participants gain access to valuable campus resources, along with gaining insight into the values, support, and competencies needed for positive involvement at UIC. Using a passion-driven action plan, students distinguish key identities, values, and issues that matter to them. Upon completion of the program, students will feel better connected with the UIC community, feel more in touch with their personal goals, and become change agents for the future.

Learn about the Emerging Leaders Student Collective Experience:

Who is Emerging Leaders for?

ELSC is for any UIC student who is still getting their footing in campus involvement. If you are new to UIC and looking for ways to grow as a leader on-campus and in the community, then this is for you!

What’s the time commitment for the program?

ELSC meets once a week, for 6 weeks during both the Fall and Spring semesters. Please be aware that all weekly sessions last for 2 hours and attendance is mandatory.

How is ELSC different than other leadership programs?

Emerging Leaders is framed through the individual. Meaning, students who participate will be given the room to explore themselves independently, while gaining the foundational skills needed to lead and deliver positive change at UIC or the greater community. We expose participants to various resources, student organizations, and outside groups in which students can further their involvement – charging them to discover their roles within these respective groups.

How will my time be spent during the program?

We utilize the entirety of our two-hour sessions. Sessions comprise of engaging activities and reflective conversations. From creative exercises to individualized brainstorming, ELSC serves to cater all exploring leaders.

Upon completion of the program, students will feel better connected with the UIC community, have a better sense of their personal goals, and become a change agent for the future.

The fall cohort will begin the week of February 1st and will run weekly for 6 weeks.
