About

Himanshu Panchal is a Computer Science major at UIC committed to empowering the UIC community. Recently, his perspective on leadership has evolved, shifting from focusing purely on operational execution to prioritizing the human connection and impact behind it. He applies this community-first mindset across campus, managing resources as Operations Chair for the Student Activities Funding Committee, guiding peers as a CS Teaching Assistant, and ensuring seamless technical operations at the Retzky College of Pharmacy. Combining academic excellence with mission-driven service, Himanshu continues this impactful work as a Research Aide at the UIC Innovation Center.

He chose UIC because of its vibrant, diverse community and its strong commitment to student growth. The university has provided him with numerous opportunities to serve across departments, from supporting technical infrastructure in the College of Pharmacy to assisting student organizations through the Student Activities Funding Committee. He sees UIC as a place where every student can find a unique way to contribute.

His involvement in campus activities has enriched his education by helping him understand the human side of technical learning. Through his role as a Teaching Assistant for CS 301 and as an Orientation Leader for new students, he has learned that academic knowledge is most meaningful when it is used to help others overcome challenges. These experiences have strengthened his patience and reinforced the importance of supporting peers in their individual paths to success.

After graduation, Himanshu plans to work as a software engineer at a reputable company for one to two years. Following this, he intends to pursue a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning, continuing to build on his passion for technology and innovation.
