About

Nathan Thokkudubiyyapu is a Computer Science Honors student and Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Illinois Chicago. Originally from Elmhurst, Illinois, he serves as President of the Undergraduate Student Government, where his work focuses on student success, academic access, and campus engagement. Nathan is also a Teaching Assistant for Data Structures and Algorithms, former Vice President of Professional Development for Alpha Kappa Psi, a member of the UIC Senate, and a member of the Dean of Students Student Conduct Committee. His interests lie at the intersection of technology, leadership, and service.

Nathan believes that student engagement and community service are essential because they transform a university from a place students attend into a community they truly belong to. He recognizes that engaged students are more likely to persist academically, develop leadership skills, and feel supported, while service fosters empathy, responsibility, and a commitment to giving back.

He chose UIC for its strong public mission, diverse student body, and commitment to access and equity. The university offered him the opportunity to pursue rigorous academics while remaining deeply involved in leadership and service. At UIC, he found a campus where student voice matters and where he could contribute meaningfully to improving systems that directly impact student success.

Through his involvement in student leadership, teaching, and professional organizations, Nathan has enriched his education by connecting classroom learning to real-world impact. These experiences have strengthened his skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership, while giving him a deeper understanding of how institutions operate and supporting his growth as both a student and a leader.

After graduation, Nathan plans to pursue a career at the intersection of technology, leadership, and service, with long-term goals of working in technology policy and intellectual property. His dream is to work in technology and public service, shaping policies and systems that promote innovation while ensuring access, equity, and the responsible use of emerging technologies.
