About

Rae Joyce Baguilat is the Director of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement at the University of Illinois Chicago.  She has worked in student affairs for over 20 years at various institutions in Chicago, working in residence life, student conduct, student activities, leadership development, service-learning, and community engagement.  She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University and a master’s degree in Higher Education from Northeastern Illinois University. She is currently pursuing her EdD in Higher Education at Northern Illinois University.  She is dedicated to serving students and helping them discover their passion and purpose, develop their skills, and challenge them to get involved in their community.

 

Rae Joyce has extensive experience in student leadership development and training.  She has experience participating in and organizing alternative spring break service trips/immersion trips for over 15 years.  She is a NASPA-certified peer educator trainer and has certified over 90 students to lead in various areas, such as Orientation Leaders, Freshmen Peer Mentors, Student Ambassadors, and success coaches.  She is also trained as a facilitator in restorative justice circles and deliberative dialogues.
