Welcome Service Project
On August 24, 2018, a group of 22 UIC volunteers partnered with the Chicago Park District to prepare Garibaldi Park for the fall. The Welcome Service Project is an annual event put on by SLCE that is geared to incoming first-year and transfer students as an opportunity to connect with fellow incoming students and contribute to the local community. Working together, volunteers re-mulched the playground for the local park, contributing to the community right near the campus. Even with a little bit of rain, volunteers were cheery about the experience and gratified to see the impact of their work.
